HSE Cost Recovery for Interventions
HSE will be introducing a "fee for intervention" scheme, allowing inspectors to charge employers for enforcement letters and notices.
Charges will be levied at “non-compliant” businesses for its inspector’s time – Note if during the visit businesses are found to be “compliant” then businesses won’t pay a penny.
If something is found to be wrong there will be a “fee for intervention” for a material breach of the law where identified. A material breach is where there has been a contravention of health and safety law that requires written notification.
It is likely to apply where inspectors visit high risk businesses that have breached or are suspected of breaching the law i.e. where there has been an accident or dangerous occurrence.
The fee will be £124 per hour.
When does this apply? April 12
This is potentially relevant to all "higher risk" businesses
All businesses need to ensure they conduct Health and Safety Compliance Checks
